After five fashion, hair, and makeup

Theatrical Hair and Makeup Design

Not only can I style real hair, I'm also able to style wigs to create the sweet psyche knot for Belle, the tarty curls for the Laundress, and the somewhat Cindy-Lou Who for Fred's wife in A Christmas Carol.

These hair-do's from the romantic era are so strange! One of Lucillia's wigs has a big bump with a holly sprig stuck into it and her other one has ringlet puppy dog ears. Both would have been considered very fashionable.

Moving on to a little show called In The Boom Boom Room. This was an entry into the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. I actually won an award for this design at the Regional festival.

Meet my Go-Go Girls! This was a close up of Valerie at the beginning of the show where her makeup is 60's down to the winged liquid eyeliner to the bright lid color. She's a Bo-Peep GoGo so curly cue pigtails complete her frosty 60's look.

Amanda had so many tattoos that we (the fabulous costume designer, Clarissa Sanchez, and I) decided to make her a pirate gogo and give her a few more with makeup. She's got the 60's look as well, but I added a crossbones tattoo under her eye (which the director wasn't so sure about until he saw her in full costume and loved it!).

I also gave her an anchor tattoo, because what's a pirate without one, really?

The amazing dancer, Mila, was the beerwench gogo. She's got some seriously green mod eyes and the Bavarian buns with ribbons to complete this fantasy look.

This is not a wig! Marissa truly has that much hair that will pouf up that much. We were going for a sexy Jane Fonda a la Barbarella with her character.

A closeup on her sexy, smoky eyes.

Rose was the star of the show as Chrissy. Her makeup was the epitome of the mod look with Twiggy as our reference. She's got the same liquid eyeliner wing out that the other girls have, but her bottom lashes are actually drawn on with the liner as well. A true trick of the 60's.

Rose was wigged because she took it off at intermission, indicating her character's downward spiral. See. I do metaphors!

My GoGo's also underwent a change at intermission. They got tore up from the floor up or what could be considered the definition of a hot mess!

More stills to follow from Macbeth. This is just a teaser with my witches who were painted blue and had tribal tattoos painted on them. The bald one in the middle actually has a snake painted on her head.

More to come...
